My family has always been fond of celebrating parties with themes and costumes. This not only gives our celebration a twist, but it also makes our "Manalangsang gathering" truly unique. On the occasion of my 18th birthday, I have decided to make my party Wild Wild West-inspired. People came in cowboy and gypsy costumes. Of course, as the celebrant, I wore a modern cowgirl costume with suede boots! And we decorated the place as if it were a barn with hay and ropes all over. Yeeha! When we are having a party for the little ones, we usually choose a theme where they can easily come in children's costumes. I remember Raph came once in his Elmo suit while Joaqui came in his Pooh costume. For the next parties, we are thinking of having sexy costumes for the uncles and aunties (they've always wanted to do that!) and adult Halloween costumes for the teens (though the celebration isn't really a Halloween party.) We are still brainstorming for possible themes since we've done the most common ones - Chinese, cartoons, sports, cowboys and Filipino. I think it will help to look for costumes online. I found one site that offers costumes for kids and adults alike. The site has over 10,000 items, which makes it a one-stop shop for costumes, accessories, and party supplies on the Internet. Anyway, I will keep you posted on what themes are coming up. Oh, and suggestions are welcomed! posted by Dorxie at 10:29 AM
