Building a house can be very tedious, but keeping it away from pests is even a harder job. I remember, one time, when a portion of our dirty kitchen ceiling just fell off all of a sudden because of pesky termites that have eaten it away. Believe me, it was scary! Termites generally feed on wood, leaf litter, soil and animal dung, and they are considered to cause serious structural damages to buildings, crops or plantation forests. Therefore, they are not just threat to our houses but to our surroundings as well. The termites' wood-eating habits are often concealed, which makes their presence undetected most of the time. It is only after surface changes and severe damage to the wood that people notice what the termites have done. Several measure are being done to avoid termites. There are barrier systems used against termites to protect buildings from termite access, thus forcing the termites out into the open where they must form clearly visible shelter tubes to gain entry. There are also termite exterminators that provide residential and commercial pest control at very friendly costs. On our part, let us avoid termites by using termite-resistant concrete, steel or masonry foundation for your houses. Let's use termite barriers (whether physical, poisoned soil, or some of the new poisoned plastics) to prevent the termites from gaining unseen access to structures, and let's always make use of timber treatment regularly to keep the pests away. Remember, we need to take an extra effort to prevent our houses from being attacked by termites, simply because prevention is always better than cure. Labels: termites posted by Dorxie at 10:13 AM
